How to export property listings to Excel
Open the property site's results, click the NeatCells icon and download Excel. Price, bedrooms, bathrooms and area arrive as numbers ("1br" becomes 1 under Beds, "675ft²" becomes 675 under Area (sq ft)), so you can work out price per square foot with one formula.
Step by step
- Search the property site with your area, budget and filters.
- Click the NeatCells icon and check the columns: Price, Beds, Baths, Area, Address, Agent and the listing's URL, depending on what the site shows.
- Click Collect next pages to add the following pages of listings.
- Click Download Excel.
Compare listings
-
Price per square foot: add a column with
=C2/F2(price divided by area), then sort by it. - Filter Beds to 2 or more and sort by price to see the best value first.
- Prices such as "POA" or "Price on request" stay as text, so the column keeps every listing; filter them out before doing sums.
Track new listings
Save a recipe for your search. With NeatCells Pro, watch it daily: while Chrome is open, NeatCells checks the search and notifies you when new listings appear or their prices change.
Questions
The rent column shows "$2,400/mo": is it a number?
Yes. The sheet holds 2400 in a currency format, with "/mo" in the column name, so sums and averages work.
Can I get the details from each listing page?
With NeatCells Pro, "Details from each item's own page" adds fields from each listing's own page.
Can I put the listings on a map?
Export the addresses, then import the sheet into a mapping tool such as Google My Maps.
