Privacy policy
In short:
- NeatCells reads a page only when you open it on that page, and it works inside your browser.
- The pages you read and the data you collect are never sent to us or to anyone else. Files are saved on your computer.
- No account, no ads, no selling of data, and no tracking on this website.
- A few things can leave your computer, each listed below with its purpose.
Who we are
NeatCells is made and run by meggi_dev, an independent developer in India ("we", "us"). Write to replytomeggi@gmail.com with any question about this policy or your data.
What happens on your computer
- When you click the NeatCells icon, press its shortcut or use its right-click entry on a page, NeatCells reads that page to find its lists and tables. It runs only in that tab, at that moment.
- The table you are working on, your settings, saved recipes, watched recipes and your license are kept in your browser's storage on your computer. So are the tables you export, for 30 days, so you can download them again from History; turning that off in Settings deletes them. Removing NeatCells from Chrome deletes all of it.
- Excel and CSV files are made on your computer and saved like any download; Copy puts the table on your clipboard.
- Collecting next pages, opening each item's own page and checking watched recipes open pages of the website you are using, in your own browser, as you would by clicking. Those websites see these visits like your own; nothing goes to us.
- Naming columns with Chrome's on-device AI (off unless you turn it on) runs Chrome's built-in model on your computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.
What can leave your computer, and why
1. License checks (Pro only)
When you activate a NeatCells Pro license key, NeatCells sends the key and a label for this computer, such as "NeatCells on Windows", to Dodo Payments, which issued the key. It repeats a short check about once a day, and tells Dodo when you remove the key from a computer. Nothing else is sent: no pages, no data, no browsing history.
2. Purchases
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for NeatCells Pro. When you buy, you give your name, email address, billing country and payment details to Dodo, and Dodo's privacy policy applies. Dodo shares your email address and order details with us so we can help with your purchase, refunds and questions. We never see your card number.
3. Google Sheets (Pro, only when you use it)
When you send rows to Google Sheets, Chrome asks you to sign in with Google and to let NeatCells create and edit the spreadsheets it makes. This is Google's "drive.file" permission: NeatCells cannot see or open any of your other files. The rows go from your browser straight to Google; we never receive them or your Google account details. NeatCells's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove NeatCells's access at any time in your Google account.
4. Anonymous usage counts (only if you turn them on)
Usage counts are off unless you turn them on, on the welcome page or in Settings. They tell us which features are used and which errors people meet, so we can fix the right things. When they are on, NeatCells keeps counts on your computer and sends them at most once a day to https://neatcells.pages.dev/api/usage. A report holds:
- the version of NeatCells;
- how often a list was found, with its kind (such as table or cards) and a confidence of low, medium or high;
- how often a file was made, with its format (Excel, CSV, clipboard or Google Sheets) and a size range such as "11-100 rows";
- which error messages appeared, and which features were used and how often;
- firsts, each counted once: usage counts turned on, panel first opened, first list found, first file, first Excel file, upgrade screen seen, Pro activated.
A report never holds page addresses or domains, page content, the data you collect, file names, search terms, your license key, or any identifier for you or your computer, so reports cannot be linked to each other or to you. We keep the counts in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine for up to three months. Cloudflare sees your IP address when a report arrives, as with any request on the internet; we do not store it. Turn usage counts off in Settings at any time: counts not sent yet are deleted on your computer. Each report is at most 16 KB.
5. Uninstall survey
When you remove NeatCells, Chrome opens a short survey on this website. Its address holds only the version of NeatCells. If you answer, we keep the reason you pick and what you write in the comment box, for up to three months, with no way to tell who wrote it. Please do not put personal details in the comment. If you close the page, nothing is sent.
6. This website
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics, ads or third-party scripts. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and to protect them from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
7. Email
If you write to us, we use your email address and message to answer you, and keep them only as long as that takes, or as long as the law requires for purchase records.
What we never do
- Sell or rent data, or use it for advertising.
- Use data for anything other than NeatCells's single purpose, or to decide creditworthiness.
- Run code from the internet: all of NeatCells's code is in the extension package that the Chrome Web Store reviews.
NeatCells's use of the data described here complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Your choices and rights
You can use NeatCells without giving us any personal information. Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR in Europe or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you (in practice, purchase records and emails), and ask for a copy, a correction or its deletion. Write to replytomeggi@gmail.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority. For data Dodo Payments holds about a purchase, you can contact Dodo directly, or we will pass your request on.
Where data is processed
Dodo Payments, Cloudflare and Google may process data in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date. Important changes are also mentioned in NeatCells's update notes.
