How to export a page that loads more as you scroll
Click the NeatCells icon, then Scroll to load more. NeatCells scrolls the page for you, waits for new items, adds them to the table and stops when nothing new appears. It is part of the free version.
Why copying misses items
Feeds, social timelines and many shop grids load the next batch only when you get near the bottom. Some long lists go further and keep only the items on screen: as you scroll down, the ones above are removed. Copying the page, or any tool that reads it once, gets only part of the list.
Step by step
- Open the page and click the NeatCells icon. It reads the items loaded so far.
- Click Scroll to load more. NeatCells moves down a screen at a time, waits for the page to add items, and collects them as they appear, also from lists that remove items above.
- It stops after three rounds at the bottom with nothing new, and says how many items it added. You can press Cancel at any time and keep what it found.
- Click Download Excel.
Limits
- One run takes up to 50 steps, 10,000 new items or 5 minutes. Click Scroll to load more again to carry on from where it stopped.
- The page stays where scrolling stopped, so you can see what was reached.
- Items already in the table are not added twice, even if the page shows them again.
When a page has "Load more" instead
A button that adds items is not scrolling: use Collect next pages, which clicks "Load more" until every item is there. See collecting several pages.
Questions
It says "Scrolling down didn't load any more items". Why?
The table already has everything the page shows. Some pages load more only after a click, or not at all.
Pictures are missing in the Image column. Why?
Many pages load pictures only when they come into view. Scrolling first fills in most of them.
Is there a limit on how many items?
Up to 50,000 rows per table, to keep Chrome responsive.
